10-MONTH OLD BABY GIRL ABANDONED BY PARENTS WALKS OUT OF THEATRE ALIVE.
Little Awele was diagnosed of Hydrocephalus and later abandoned in the village by her parents when she was just one month and two weeks old.
On 31st October, 2019, Awele was brought to our office by a concerned citizen seeking for fund for surgery, I explained to them I had no money to give but knows a platform that can help.
Social media has been a great tool which we have been using for social justice. I posted her picture on my Instagram and Facebook pages seeking for a hospital or Surgeon that can operate on her for FREE and i will take responsibility for transportation (Screenshot attached).
In less than 45 minutes, I received a DM from GrandVille Medical and Laser Hospital, Lagos State informing me to bring the baby to Lagos State, that they will handle the surgery for free.🏥🏨
On Saturday 2nd November, 2019, we arrived Lagos. ✈✈
Yesterday, 5th November, 2019 Awele was operated on for FREE. 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Special thanks to the CEO, GrandVille Hospital, Dr. Ayo Aranmolate and the surgical team/contributors.
1. Dr Adetunmbi Babatunde, Consultant Neurosurgeon (Lead Surgeon)
2. Dr Bamidele Adebayo, Consultant Neurosurgeon
3. Prof. Femi Bankole, Consultant Neurosurgeon ( He gave us the VP shunt worth 50k Free of Charge)
4. Grandville medical team including Anesthetist, Periop-nurse, Technicians and cleaners
Also to members of Behind Bars Rights Foundation for providing all necessary support for #SaveAwele.🙏🏾🙏🏾
