Umubu community in Amai kingdom honours Ishiekwene


Umubu community, Amai kingdom in Ukwuani Local Government Council Area of Delta State has honoured Hon. Basil Ishiekwene for his tireless effort towards the development of kingdom.

Ishiekwene, an illustrious son of the community, is a former Councillor and former Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Security and was recognised and commended on Thursday at the Okpala-Uku palace, Amai for his remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the community.


The spokesman of the community Chief Vincent Ossai listed some of the projects attracted by him from the State government to include fully functional Cottage Hospital with state of the art facilities and emergency ambulance, a 40,000 litres solar power water project which is at advanced stage of completion through DESOPADEC and also helped some indigens of Amai to secure pensionable employment from the state government as well as other physical projects in the primary and secondary schools

In his speech, Hon Basil thanked his people of Amai for massively voting for our Governor Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt Hon Ochor Ochor and all PDP candidates in the last general elections.

He expressed readiness to do more for them and made a cash donation to support the community in their self quest for reconnection of the community back to BEDC national grid

High point of the event was offering of prayers for Hon Basil and presentation of token sum of money and other gifts by the Okpala Uku - in - council as gift to Hon Basil for being a good ambassador.

During his tenure as an elected councillor, he single handedly financed and executed projects such as extension of electricity supply of 1km in Amai as well as rehabilitation of broken down water project in the community.

In a related devee community youths and the executive were not left out as they also hosted Hon Basil Ishiekwene to a breakfast immediately he left the Okpaluku Palace, were he advised the youths to be law abiding and work with the law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security at all time and in return they will withness more projects from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who is an advocate of peace
