The First Aircraft To Land In Nigeria And Where It Landed First
The Nigerian aviation industry is about 94 years. It's journey began when the first aircraft landed in Nigeria on the 1st November 1925 in the ancient city of Kano. Kano has always being a large commercial City.
The three De Havilland DH 9A aircraft led by flight Lieutenant Coningham, that belong to the Royal Air Force, took off from an air base in Egypt. The aircraft stopped over in several places. The three flights were expected to arrive Kano at 10:00 but due to faulty carburettor, it finally landed in Kano Polo ground at Exactly 5:10 p.m.
More than 20 thousand people waited to see the first aircraft land in the country. A great sight to behold. You could imagine their joy to see a man made flying object
From there on, Nigeria became a destination for flights.
