Over seven premium motor spirit business premises in the state capital territory have been sealed-up by the State Taskforce on Operation show your building plan.

The Chairman of the Taskforce, Mr. Uche Ozonuwe who led other members on the exercise stated that the action was occasioned by the failure of the operators of the affected petrol stations to tender their approved building plans for verification within a stipulated period under the Operation Show Your Building Plan guidelines.

According to him, the affected petrol stations had earlier been served notices of verification of approved building plans which was later followed by reminder notices.

Mr. Ozonuwe frowned at why law-abiding business operators when advised by the government to perform certain function drag foot until drastic measures are taken against them.

He reiterated governments commitment at ensuring that the guidelines for property development are adhered to, emphasizing that several property developers in the state are in the practice of contravening such guidelines which leads to frequent collapse of buildings that do not only destroy property, but in most cases claim lives.

The Taskforce boss while calling on the public, particularly those affected not to perceive the seal-up action as a witch hunt, expressed hope that other business outlets already served notices of verification would take a clue to do what is required to avoid the wrath of government.

It would be recalled that the Chairman and members of the State Taskforce on Operation Show Your Building plan had embarked on the distribution exercise of notice of verification of approved building plan on business premises, such as; banks, petrol and gas stations, hotels, government reserved areas and other commercial outlets before the nationwide lockdown occasioned by the covid-19 pandemic.
