Stop Spreading Fake News About Covid-19 Pandemic - Uzum
By JOHNSON EBIGIDE
Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq, has enjoined those currently spreading fake news about the existence of the Covid-19 scourge in the state and beyond to desist from the unwholesome and unpatriotic act.
Uzum gave the admonishment while speaking on the existence of the pandemic in the country during the radio programme of the bureau, "Wetin Government Dey Do" with the Delta Broadcasting Service in Asaba.
The DG wondered why some people still see the existence of the pandemic in the country as a scam, wondering what states and the Federal Government stood to gain from shutting down all sectors of the economy, if not to curb the spread of the dreaded virus and save lives of residents in the country.
The orientation boss lamented the stories emanating from some of the discharged patients from the isolation centres, who instead of being grateful to the state government for giving them free quality medicare while in the centres, resorted to misinforming the public on the existence of the pandemic in the state, thereby creating carefree attitude among residents concerning the protocols of the virus.
He said that every move by the state government on curbing the spread of the dreaded virus was tailored towards saving residents from contracting and spreading the pandemic in the state, adding that it runs against the grain of proper reasoning for any government to commit huge resources in combating a pandemic that is not in existence.
