As the Saga of Orji Uzo Kalu's released from jailed lingered over some allegations of corruption related charges, the senate President of Nigeria led a delegation to the house of the former Abia State Governor Orji Uzo Kalu.
This happened on Thursday when the Senate President Ahmad Lawan led a delegation of different Senators to the dwelling of the Chief Whip of the higher legislative chamber, Orji Uzor Kalu, after the Abia lawmaker was to be released from jail at some point of withing the week.
The former Abia State Governor regained His freedom on Wednesday after months of incarceration. The former Abia State Governor was released from the Kuje Correctional Center after the completion of his launch formalizes.
This whole saga of Kalu started when the former Governor, alongside a former Director of Finance and Account of Abia State, Ude Jones Udeogu, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 36 counts of money laundering to the tune of N7.1 billion.
Since then Kalu and the Finance director we're charged to court and found guilty. They were sentenced and later released. They were jailed in December, but they appealed the verdict of the court.
Kalu and the other visiting lawmakers all wore face masks but did not observe social distancing. They were all dancing and celebrating the return of Kalu.
I don't know if criminals in our country who were charged and found guilty be celebrated when they finally serve their sentence and return. This could be the height of injustice and corruption in our country, if others can actually support and celebrate with corrupt people when they are successful.
