Determined to find an enduring solution to the worsening state of insecurity in the area, elected representatives of the people have held closed door meeting with traditional rulers from Delta North Senatorial District Of Delta State.
The meeting is coming at a time the spate of herdsmen attack, kidnapping, rape and other heinous crimes are on the increase in the district. The closed door meeting provided the opportunity for the stakeholders to brainstorm on the way out of the security challenge.
No communique was issued at the end of the meeting, but addressing journalists, the Chairman of the Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, who hosted the meeting, described the interface as enriching and fruitful.
‘’We x- rayed the security situation in our area and the deliberations were very enriching and i can tell you that we are making progress’’, he said.
The monarch reiterated the earlier call on non-indigenes still leaving in the bushes to come out and leave with their host communities saying that it was a misnomer in this part of the world for people to reside in the bush’’.
H e commended the state government’s initiative to float an indigenous security outfit to confront the security challenges in the district.
The Delta North monarchs also hailed the cordial relationship between the three arms of government adding that it has translated to the achievement of the stronger delta vision of the Okowa administration even in the face of COVID-19. They urged the people to continue to observe all COVID-18 protocols and regulations.
The meeting was attended by the First Vice Chairman of the forum and Obi Of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, Obi Henry Kikachukwu 1, the Obi Of Igbodo Kingdom, Obi Osedume 1, and the Dein Of Agbor, Keagborekuzi 1, among others.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor, and other lawmakers as well as chairmen of the nine local government councils in Delta North.
