DELTA GOVERNMENT SETS UP 2020 BUDGET REVIEW COMMITTEE
Arising from the impact of global COVID-19 pandemic and the sharp drop in oil price leading to a global economic downturn and drastic reduction in the revenue profile of States, the Delta State Government has set up a Budget Review Team with mandate to urgently review the States 2020 budget in line with current realities.
The 7 – man Committee headed by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Planning, Dr. Barry Pere Gbe will among other things make appropriate recommendations to the Government on necessary measures to cushion any adverse effect of the economic decline in the State.
According to a release from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the current realities demands an immediate adjustment considering the commitment of the State Government to the implementation of the 2020 Budget.
The other members of the Committee which have a period of 4 weeks to submit her report include Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Sir. Fidelis Tilije, Honourable Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, Chief of Staff, Government House, Olorogun David Edevbie, Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Kingsley Emu and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning, Mr. F. Isume as Secretary to the Committee
